Jeremy Lin Trade Rumors 2014: Quotes Bible on Twitter in Response to Carmelo Anthony Free Agency Visit to Houston (VIDEO)
In latest Jeremy Lin news, the 25-year old point guard, rumored to be traded by the Houston Rockets this offseason, used Scripture to voice his disapproval of a recently insulting billboard. The Houston Rockets are responsible for a billboard that displays Carmelo Anthony wearing Lin's jersey number, insinuating that Lin is through with the Rockets if Anthony is signed.
"Luke 6:29 - If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them," wrote Lin via Twitter on Wednesday.
As a result, one of Lin's Twitter followers posted the following message in defense of Christian point guard:
"@JLin7 @Al_Iannazzone Someone takes YOUR number and places it on a billboard with @carmeloanthony I am sorry but you entitled to say WTF?," wrote Marco Antonio Meneses (who goes by the Twitter handle EmodMarco) on Twitter.
Lin explains to Meneses why he is taking the high road regarding the issue of Carmelo Anthony arriving to Houston to hear the Rockets' pitch in order to convince the free agent superstar to sign with their NBA franchise.
"@EmodMarco im entitled to standup for myself/say i felt disrespected as i did thru tweet but point is love unconditionally/as jesus loved me," posted Lin to Meneses via his Twitter account.
Lin and Anthony both currently wear the No. 7 on their jerseys for their respective teams. In addition, there is also speculation if Anthony signs with the Rockets, it could signal the end of Linsanity in the Lone Star state.
"If 'Melo comes, Lin has to go in a trade -- which Lin's aware. Given 'Melo-Lin history, understandable why Lin would be sensitive about it," wrote NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter for the Yahoo website.
Wojnarowski also reported that there are conflicting reports that suggest the Rockets informed Lin in advance in reference to the Carmelo Anthony fake billboard.
"Houston pre-informed Jeremy Lin of the use of his No. 7 on 'Melo recruiting images, source tells Yahoo Sports," tweeted Wojnarowski on July 2. "Spoke to Lin's agents, Jim Tanner/Roger Montgomery, who say that Houston did NOT inform Lin that the No. 7 would be used for Melo images."
The Philadelphia 76ers is one of the teams that is rumored to be willing to take on Lin's $15M contract next year if the Rockets decide to trade the popular young point guard.
