Jeremy Lin News: Linsanity Assists the Jubilee Project To Promote His New Christian Film 'Jose' (VIDEOS)
Jeremy Lin set the NBA world on fire during the "Linsanity" craze at Madison Square Garden two years ago, and now the young point guard is helping a company known to make videos that inspires people to do good things and give a voice to the voiceless for charitable causes.
Jason Lee created the Jubilee Project on his birthday to help raise money for the Haitian people who were affected by the earthquake back in 2010.
"The purpose of the Jubilee Project is simple: To make videos for a good cause," said Lee, according to a report by The Gospel Herald. "Anything from raising awareness, to fundraising money, to capturing random acts of kindness. The hope is that each video inspires others to make their own video, which causes this goodwill to go viral. After all, goodness is contagious."
Lin first worked with the Jubilee Project for "The Last Pick" movie. Lin starred in a movie about a little boy trying to overcome obstacles on the basketball court because of size and age. Lin plays himself trying to encourage the little boy not to give up no matter the situation.
In the second film with the Jubilee Project, Lin also stars in the "Jose" movie, where he meets 18-year-old Jose Estrella who had a troubled life before accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior. He became addicted to alcohol at the age of 13, and almost died of an alcohol and drug overdose on December 8, 2010.
"I could have lost everything - my Mom, most importantly," said Estrella in the film recalling what would have happened if he died that day. "That night, I could have easily gotten run over in the streets, but Someone was looking over me."
Lin is proud of Estrella overcoming his past addictions so that he can live a life pleasing to God.
"He has a solid foundation, and he understands a lot more than a typical eighteen-year-old might," said Lin in the "Jose" movie. "He talks a lot about his joy."
On February 4, 2012, Lin become an unlikely star in New York City with the Knicks when he ignited his former team to a victory on that day. In Lin's first ever game as a starter, he had 25 points on 10 for 19 shooting, seven assists, and five rebounds against the Nets two years ago.
Now in 2014, Linsanity has cooled off considerably after he signed a three year $25.12M contract with the Houston Rockets. He is currently a bench player on the Rockets team. Lin's Rockets team led by NBA superstars James Harden and Dwight Howard have the squad ranked in 4th place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Rockets are looking to potentially win their 3rd championship in franchise history if the team has a successful run in the playoffs.
