Jeremy Lin LA Lakers News: 'Linsanity' New Starting Point for Los Angeles, Endorsed by Magic Johnson

According to the latest reports, Jeremy Lin has just been set as the new starting point for the Los Angeles Lakers.

On that note, it was actually Magic Johnson that had recommended Lin for the position after Steve Nash had to bow out for the season because of a back injury.

Coach Bryon Scott, however, delayed making that decision until after Ronnie Scott injured his knee in the preseason. What's more is that Scott decided to announce his new starting point to the reporters before he told Lin himself.

For Jeremy Lin, this is nothing new, for his career has had its share of strange episodes. In 2012, he was in the D-League, and in just eight months, he went from that to being the star of the New York Knicks.

After that, the superstar got himself a $25 million dollar offer from the Houston Rockets.

During his first year with the Rockets, though, he ended up playing second fiddle to James Harden, who had joined the team on the eve of the 2012 - 2013 season. During his second season, Lin lost his starting position to Patrick Beverly and his jersey number to Carmelo Anthony during an offseason recruiting pitch.

Those twists and turns have apparently taught Lin humility, "[Being named starter] is more like a game-to-game thing than a permanent thing. I know how fast things can change. ... If [coming off the bench] is what the team needs, I've shown I'll make sacrifices," he told Sports Illustrated during a phone interview.

Stepping back into the present, he was evidently floored by Johnson's endorsement of him, saying, "Part of me is like, Wow, Magic knows who I am. The fact that he thinks what he thinks, I'm blown away by it."
