'X-Men' stars Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Hault have broken up "months ago," long before the rumors about it potentially happening spread.

Us Weekly reported last week that Lawrence and Hault have finally called quits after dating for about 3 years.

However, British tabloid, The Sun, reports that the relationship had ended months before the news. The report indicated that their hectic schedules and their long-distance relationship were the reasons for the split.

Apparently, things got real when Lawrence went to Paris fashion week instead of choosing to go on a date with Hault at the Wireless Music Festival, "Nicholas was pretty upset she opted out of seeing him as they rarely ever got to hang out," a source told the newspaper.

The source also said that the split ended up in "decent terms."

"They know that at the end of the year, they'll be back on set together for the next X-Men film," the source added.

A source from Us Weekly also supports this report, "They just weren't together a lot, her life is a whirlwind," source told Us Weekly. "They have gotten back together before, it just got to be too hard for now."

Meanwhile the couple dismissed rumors of them getting engaged. However, in an interview with Huffington Post, Lawrence confirmed that their busy schedules usually takes toll in their relationship.

"When we're busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn't text back or call," said Lawrence, "Life's super-busy. Obviously you know what they're doing, and you trust them. We're so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We'd be living together. At least this way he's in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other."
