Jenni Rivera Dead? Death Hoax as Spoof Site Claims Star Faked Her Own Death to Avoid Legal Issues
A phony site with a CNN logo claimed that 'La Diva De La Banda' star Jenni Rivera has faked her own death. The site also stated that if this is true, the star could face 15 years to prison for accounts of bribery, fraud, falsifying documents, conspiring and money laundering.
The report even used a photo of Rivera wearing a jail uniform which was just a shot for her film, 'Filly Brown'. The original photo was showing her wearing a blue jail uniform. But, the fake site used photoshop to make it look like an orange uniform.
Apparently, this fake media site has their eyes on the Rivera family since this is not the first time a death hoax has been released concerning them. In one of the false reports, it claimed that Lupillo Rivera has died because of pneumonia. The site featured a Telemundo logo with edited pictures that appeared like screen captures.
The fake site's story was put under the scope, but the host evidently took the page down. Still, people kept on retweeting the fake news that went viral in just a couple of days.
Soon after hearing about this, Lupillo's mother, Doña Rosa, went on Twitter to express her dismay calling the media "disrespectful." "A friend just called to tell me not to watch the news," she posted.
When asked if Lupillo has died she responded, "I told her they are crazy, I talked to him yesterday. He is alright. They don't know what to invent anymore. I called him and everything is fine. My son is great."
