Jay-Z Unveils A New Album During Halftime of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Announces Via a Samsung Commercial

Jay-Z is just one of those guys who keeps coming back. But here's the tricky thing, he never actually has to come back. He always enjoys both critical and commercial success with his music and entrepeneurship. Enough so that, at any time, he and wife Beyonce Knowles-Carter could walk away and call it quits with stacked resumes already. But, like the rest of the great ones, he's not ready to walk away just yet.

Jay-Z announced his new project last night via a 3-minute commercial during halftime of the Spurs-Heat game. It showed him working in the studio with big names like Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. He fills in the time around the name-dropping by waxing poetic on art and life and everything in between.

"The album is about this duality," Jay-Z says in the ad, "of how do you navigate your way through this whole thing, through success and through failures, and remain yourself?"

Samsung's website has more details on the release and availablity. Eventually, the album and its' songs will be made available to all owners of Galaxy phones and tablets for the first 72 hours of its' release. It will be interesting to see if this business model will spread to other companies and artists.
