Jay-Z New Album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' Sells 1 Million Copies to Samsung, Plan to Give Away Album with New Smartphones (VIDEO)
Jay-Z has grown as a business man in the last several years and is known now for his business savvy moves.
Well he has done it again, reportedly pulling off a deal with Samsung to buy 1 million copies of his upcoming record.
Above is a three-minute video ad showing Jay-Z with Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams and Swizz Beatz working on his new album entitled, Magna Carta Holy Grail.
Why would Samsung do this? Well, it looks like they are planing on giving the new album away to new smartphone customers in hopes of attracting new people to their phones.
Samsung will reportedly make the album free on July 4th through an App, 72 hours before the album is released to the public. This new App where you can get the music will be released and launched on June 24th.
Samsung reportedly paid $5 for each copy of the album, valuing the deal with Jay-Z at $5 Million.
Samsung will atleast definitely have their celebrity endorser for the near future, so thats a win for the company.
So do you think this is a smart move or a act of desperation on the part of Samsung?
Regardless, its a smart move for Jay-Z to put even more money in his pocket and move the first million copies of his new album quickly. So chalk up another win for Jay-Z in the business world.
Does anyone have a problem with Jay-Z making this move?
