Jay Z and Solange Fight and Beyonce Divorce Rumors: Solange Speaks Up About Elevator Fight on ‘Lucky’ Magazine
Solange Knowles, singer and sister to Beyoncé, finally speaks up about her controversial elevator fight with Jay Z.
In the August edition of Lucky, the 28-year-old Bring It On performer said that she and her family have already moved on from the incident. She quickly brushed off the topic and labeled it as "the thing" and emphasized that she wants to focus on discussing her return to the music industry.
Solange explained, "What's important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."
Security footage showing Jay Z's intense argument with her sister-in-law in the elevator of Standard Hotel in New York City last May 5 quickly went viral creating gossip and rumor. An anonymous source from Us Weekly spilled that the family is not keen on discussing the details, but admitted that it was over "something small and stupid."
An official statement from Beyoncé's camp read that the issue has been settled internally, immediately after the incident, "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family," it added.
Solange confessed that the fight with her brother-in-law somehow resurrected her music career, "I was serious about my songwriting but not necessarily too gung ho on all the other elements of being an artist - the public nature of things, the lack of privacy, the feelings of always needing to be on. I also felt really misunderstood by my peers and the musical landscape that I was in," she said explaining why she opted out of the industry for a while.
