Jamie Foxx Challenges Hip-Hop Moguls Jay-z and Kanye West to Become Civil Rights Leaders! Video Footage Inside

Actor and musical talent Jamie Foxx is getting in his black activist spirit. During his speech at the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington this past Wednesday, Foxx encouraged entertainers like Kanye West and Jay-Z to become civil rights leaders and walk in the light of Martin Luther King Jr. and Jesse Jackson.

Foxx talked about a dinner he had with musician Harry Belafonte, and how he spoke about the time he marched in the protests against Jim Crow laws with black activists like MLK and Jesse Jackson. That dinner and recent news event inspired Foxx to speak out.

During his speech Foxx said,

"Everybody my age, and all the entertainers, it's time for us to stand up now and renew this dream, that's what we gotta do."

"What we need to do now is the young folks pick it up now, so that when we're 87 years old, talking to the young folks, we can say it was me, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Kanye, Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, the list goes on and on."

"I was affected by the Trayvon Martin situation, I was affected by Newton, I was affected by Sandy Hook, its time for us now to pick up."

Personally, I think this a great idea because we need to target the youth after all, they are our future leaders and kids look up to moguls such as, Kanye West and Jay-z. if Jay-Z and Kanye West spoke about these issues in their rap lyrics the youth would not only be informed, but will be confirmed to a greater way of thinking.
