Is James Franco gay?
Despite his decade long movie star appeal to women ages 15 to dead, James Franco's sexuality has always been the target of public speculation.
While promoting 3 upcoming flicks, 2 of which do not shy away explicit gay sex scenes, at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, Franco took MTV News for a stroll down traumatic memory lane.
"In high school these girls got mad at me and so they spread this rumor that I was having a gay relationship with one of my closest friends. And they even made up a little dance they would do in the girl's locker room about me being gay."
To this day, Franco still doesn't know the dance, he told MTV News.
In a world of specially designed photo ops and public appearances, we're not used to seeing Franco hand in hand with leading ladies on many red carpets or romantic walks through Central park. And with his choice of upcoming movies it wouldn't seem like the rumors is going to die down anytime soon. However, Franco could care less about what people have to say.
"Everyone thinks about it [sex and sexuality]. Everyone knows about it. Even if you insist on living an incredibly chaste life and you're chaste in your thoughts, that's a conscious and concerted effort to keep sex from your thoughts. So you're still engaging with sex even if it's in a negative capacity. ... It's a huge part of our lives. It's part of being human." (MTV News)
Franco treats the issue as old news. Why can't public can't seem to do the same, instead of needlessly prying into what should be a private affair?
Franco is producing a BSMN documentary called "Kink" and starring in a remake of the 80s gay-goes-Pacino, "Cruisin". Sooner than later you can see Franco alongside Selena Gomez in "Spring Breakers" in theaters March 22.
