James Bond 24 'Spectre' Rumors, News: Will Jason Statham Succeed Daniel Craig as Agent 007?

While the latest James Bond flick 'Spectre' has yet to be released, fans of the classical British spy have already begun speculating who will be the succeeding the 47-year-old English actor Daniel Craig as the next MI6 agent.

'Spectre' is the fourth James Bond movie for" is the fourth James Bond film for Daniel Craig and his contract end after another film as Agent 007. However, producer Barbara Broccoli recently issued a statement to Cinema Blend saying that Craig's contract is an open-ended one, denoting that he may bid adieu to James Bond anytime he desires after the fifth film.

In case, Craig decides to stop playing the role of the iconic British spy, Jason Statham has announced his willingness and eagerness to be the Agent 007. According to Latin Post, the actor was talking to The Guardian regarding his upcoming comedy film, 'Spy,' with Jude Law and Melissa McCarthy, when the subject of the next actor to portray James Bond transpired.

In fact, Statham, who is well-known for his roles in the 'Transporter' series, is not only familiar to stunts and fight scenes, but has already starred in numerous movies from the hard-action genre. Moreover, Statham can also speak like the iconic spy, as the actor is known to converse with an accent that is a cross between Scottish and Welsh.

Nevertheless, Statham admitted that his portrayal of the iconic spy would be unconventional for the character. He stressed that while he would make a "decent Bond," it would be "very, very different" if he does it.

When asked about the aspect of portraying a villain in the movie, 'Fast and Furious 7,' Statham asserted that he is not eager to replicate that role in a James Bond flick. He only prefers the role of the Agent 007.

"Er... I don't know if I wanna to do that," Statham said, adding, "That's not my thing. I'd rather play the other guy."

In fact, Statham is not the only one rumored to play the role of James Bond. Even Idris Elba was rumored to play the iconic spy's role after Craig.

In December last year, the 42-year-old actor, a native of London, responded to rumors of being the next Bond on his Twitter account. "Isn't 007 supposed to [be] handsome? Glad you think I've got a shot! Happy New year people," wrote Elba.

Meanwhile, 'Spectre' is set to hit theaters on November 6.
