James Bond 24 Movie Release Date, Plot Rumors: Will Follow On From Skyfall, Says Director Sam Mendes

In a recent interview, "Skyfall" director Sam Mendes revealed that "Bond 24" will continue where the 2012 film ended. In the interview, Mendez told host Charlie Rose of "The Charlie Rose Show" his reason for returning to make the latest movie in which Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the British secret agent James Bond.

"I started a number of stories that were incomplete. I cast a new M, I cast a new Moneypenny, I cast a new Q, I cast a new Tanner. There was a missing piece now. I felt like there was a way to create the second part of a two-part story. And then I started to get really interested again, when they agreed to wait a little longer and not go immediately and not go with two movies but with one, which I felt very strongly about," said Mendez to Rose on the long-running PBS series.

In the interview, he also talked about other innovations he introduced in the previous film besides the new cast (except for Craig and Dame Judi Dench).

"What we tried to do, and audiences seemed to embrace in Skyfall, was that for the first time characters were allowed to age, and they were allowed to acknowledge the passing of the years, and were allowed to acknowledge the history - in a kind of sly, mischievous way - the history of the franchise that they've been part of," said Mendes to Rose in the new interview.

In addition to Mendes, Skyfall's screenwriter John Logan also returned to pen the script for the latest installment of the James Bond franchise.

"All I can say about Bond is that I'm happily writing it. Sam (Mendes) would rappel through the window and kill me," said Logan to IGN earlier this year in reference to Mendes not allowing him to reveal any details regarding the film.

"My goal is to write a great movie that's appropriate, to build on what we did on Skyfall, but make it its own unique animal, the themes, ideas and the characters from Skyfall can obviously continue on, because it is a franchise, and it is an ongoing story. So I think there's resonance from Skyfall in the new movie."

James "Bond 24" will first debut in the United Kingdom on October 23, 2015, and then it will be released in American movie theaters on November 6, 2015.
