Jaci Velasquez, ‘Project Runway’s’ Johnathan Kayne Lead Benefit Event For Autism, Differently-Abled
Stylists Jaci Velasquez and "Project Runway" contestant Johnathan Kayne will lend their talents to the Light It Up Blue Runway Fashion & Design Event at California Closets in Franklin this Saturday, which will benefit Autism Speaks and Project Search.
Project Search was first conceptualized at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, which seeks to hire people with disabilities.
Autism Speaks, meanwhile, provides funding for global research to find out the cause of autism and possibly find out the ultimate cure. Aside from its biomedical efforts, the advocacy organization also reaches out to the community to erase the stigma from parents who have autistic children.
Aside from the Spanish gospel singer and the "Project Runway" contestant, style diva Cathi Aycock ("Style Home Page") and Salvador member Nic Gonzales (also husband of Jaci Velasquez) will also be participating in Light It Up Blue Runway Fashion & Design Event.
"The event is free to attend, and will offer food, drinks and prizes," according to the press release. "A silent auction will be featured, as well as a 'Blue Runway' which will highlight designs by Johnathan Kayne and Jaci Velasquez."
After the Light It Up Blue Runway Fashion & Design Event, a month-long promotion at the California Closets will immediately follow. Part of the proceeds will go to Project Search at Vanderbilt, where there are 40 individuals with disabilities currently employed.
