New reports claim that Robert Downey Jr. has hinted that he will be wearing the Iron Man suit again in the upcoming addition to the blockbuster film franchise. However, there has been no announcement about a release date for 'Iron Man 4' as of yet.

When asked about whether a fourth release of the widely successful Marvel movie franchise, 'Iron Man', Robert Downey did not directly answer the question, but teased about a possible 'Iron Man 4'.

"I'm sure we'll ride that thing. You've got to surf that all the way in to shore," Downey describing his character Tony Stark in an interview with Hollywood Reporter.

It reportedly took a while for Marvel to approve the 'Iron Man 4' film because of the projected cost of its production. Also, Downey Jr. stated in past interviews that he will not play in the fourth 'Iron Man'.

However, the recent interview with Robert Downey Jr. hinted that the film might just be in the works already. On a side note, he mentioned that the 'Iron Man' films have changed the superhero movie industry.

Downey Jr. meant that the first 'Iron Man' film started a trend of superhero movies, that could not be more present or apparent, based on the list of upcoming feature films.

The three 'Iron Man' movies combined reportedly made a whopping $2 billion in box-office sales across the globe.

"I think I was at the forefront of something that was coming into being, and I think it has carried me as much as I have informed it. That's the healthy way to look at it," Downey humbly stated.

"It's so easy to become inflated by the successes, but what they really are are long, strong trends. It's just another wave," he added.

Marvel has several movies in line including 'Captain America 3' premiering on May 6 on 2015 and the blockbuster hit 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' slated to premiere in 2017.

While Robert Downey Jr. is still waiting for a clear signal from Marvel for 'Iron Man 4', he is slated to play the "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" in the much awaited ' The Avengers: Age of Ultron' on May 1, 2015.
