The ending of Iron Man 3 left fans with questions as to where the future of the metal-suited hero was headed. Recent rumors claim that Robert Downey Jr is finished with the Iron Man role which leaves fans wondering who is set to replace him.

According to reports, there is a possibility that Robert Downey Jr. will no longer be the face of Iron Man. This means that a new actor will need to be put in place for Iron Man 4. However, Movie Pilot mentions that there is a possibility that Tony Stark will be killed off in the upcoming Avengers film.

In an interview with Variety, Robert Downey Jr. said, "The smart money is you have to look at everybody's age. I'll put myself at the top of the list. Sooner or later, they've got to start over and get somebody young. I'm not there with them yet."

This comment has further intensified the speculation that he is going to be replaced by another "cocky" actor who can play the role of Tony Stark well.

As per Movie Pilot, the casting team has surveyed the possible replacement and their best choice is Collin Farrell. They arranged for 16 actors to audition for the role including George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Edward Norton, Robert Pattinson, Jamie Dorman and Matt Damon and other actors that were suggested by fans.

Polls on the Internet show that the fans are excited about the possibility of Farrell's chance at the iron-clad superhero.

A website poll said, "Farrell has a strong resemblance to Downey's Stark, filling out a suit nicely and working a very similar hair style."
