iPod Touch 6th Generation Release Date, Latest News and Rumors: Launched With iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 in October 2014?

Following the massively successful launch of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices, Apple is reportedly gearing up for an upcoming October event where the tech giant is going to launch the latest editions of its equally successful iPad devices.

Rumor has it that along with the launch of the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3, the launch of Apple's iPod Touch 6, and the new iPod nano is good to go.

According to reports, the iPod Touch 6 will be possessing similar features to the iPhone 6, hardware and software-wise, as Apple traditionally patterns its iPod Touch devices from its iPhones. Speculation suggests that the new iPod Touch will also come with Touch ID, which is currently an exclusive security feature on Apple's iPhone.

Touch ID enables iPhone users to secure devices with fingerprint technology, where the user can simply use his or her fingerprint to lock/unlock the iPhone, a feature that sets the device apart from the traditional passcode and pattern-enabled smartphones.

Apple's iPod Touch has always been patterned around its iPhone, and usually has the same screen size as the latter. Now that the iPhone has increased in size, at 4.7 inches, it remains unclear if Apple will apply the same changes to its iPod Touch 6 device.

Rumors also suggest that Apple's upcoming sixth generation iPod Touch will be featuring the retina display, a feature which has become standard on nearly all Apple devices in the past few years.

As expected, Apple has not made any official statement of the rumored October launch of its iPad and iPod Touch devices as of yet.
