iPod Touch 6G Launch News: Will Apple’s New Media Player Come Alongside iPhone 6s?

Even as the focus of Apple fans is currently on the upcoming iPhone 6s - the alleged inexpensive version of the hugely popular flagship handset iPhone 6, music-loving gadget aficionados eagerly await for news related to the next generation iPod, which some have dubbed as the iPod 6G, as they are of the view that it is something that the Cupertino-based tech giant should also invest in.

According to Christian Today, many believed that Apple would introduce the much-anticipated next generation iPod at its recently concluded Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015. However, this did not happen and the Cupertino tech titan also did not make any mention of the much-loved music player.

Notwithstanding the likelihood of the iPod Touch 5G being the last in Apple's media player line-up, a number of media outlets seem to be still convinced that the company will introduce the iPod Touch 6G sometime in September alongside the purported iPhone 6s. These publications also claim that the new media player will boast amazing specs and noteworthy upgrades.

Since the beginning, there were rumors that the iPod Touch 6G will be powered by an A9 processor, making the gadget snappier compared to all the previous versions of the music player launched by Apple thus far. In addition, there are speculations that the iPod Touch 6G will come with a 1 GB RAM and a microSD slot, allowing users to expand its internal storage up to 128 GB.

According to a number of reports, the purported iPod 6G will come in two variants, one at 4.7 inches, while the other at 5.5 inches. Other features of the new iPod 6G are said to include an 8-megapixel camera on its rear side, in addition to a Touch ID fingerprint scanner, allowing the gadget to incorporate Apple Pay.

As far as the pricing and color options of the purported device is concerned, there are rumors claiming that it will come in colorful plastic back covers with a price tag varying from $250 to $300.

Incidentally, though these sound promising, they are also the very reasons why Apple is unlikely to come out with iPod Tough 6G. In fact, the iPhones are already able to function as multimedia player and since they already have most the specs mentioned above, the iPod Touch 6g becomes somewhat unnecessary. At the same time, the launch of a new generation iPod with premium features may possibly also hurt the sales of the company's smartphones, as it will split the attention of consumers.
