The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be playing their third Indian Premier League 2014 match against the Delhi Daredevils at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on Friday, and SH will be hoping for a revival in fortunes, while the Delhi Daredevils are hopeful that the return of star batsman Kevin Pietersen will bring more consistency to their performances.

DD has won one and lost two of their previous matches in this season's IPL, while SRH has lost both their earlier matches against the Rajasthan Royals and Kings IX Punjab. Now, DD is hoping that the return of skipper Pietersen, who had missed the first three matches owing to a finger injury, will help the team to stabilize its performance. This maverick batsman, however, has been out of competitive cricket for long, so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure and lack of match practice.

Thus far, DD has been largely dependant on Dinesh Karthik (stand-by captain) and J P Duminy, and it is expected that things will improve with Pietersen back in the team. Though the bowlers have shown disciplined performances, the team has been let down by its spin department, as Duminy and Shahbaz Nadim failed to make a mark.

On the other hand, despite the presence of explosive batsmen like Shikar Dhawan, David Warner and Aaron Finch and a strong bowling department including Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the performances of SRH has not been consistent at all. While the team failed to score adequate runs against the Rajasthan Royals in their first match, they failed to restrain the Kings IX Punjab batsmen from putting up a formidable score - thus, losing both those matches.

As things stand now, both teams will have to muster all their resources and put up a valiant fight to regain lost ground. As T20 is such a volatile version of the game, nothing can be predicted with any certainty, but the team that takes hold of its opportunities well and performs better on the day will win.
