iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Samsung Starts A9 Chip Production for Apple Flagship

Recently, reports are claiming that the production of a new A9 chip by Samsung, intended for the next generation iPhones, has begun and will greatly increase a device's battery power.

The company will manufacture its chips in a plant in Austin, Texas as a sign of Apple's gradual move back to the United States. Samsung, Apple's partner in the making of these customized chips, received orders for them back in July. Samsung has been a long-time partner of Apple and the sole developer of Apple's custom chips since 2007.

However, Samsung experienced a major setback when Apple attempted to stop ordering supplies for them. In a report in Electronic Times reads, "The initiation of the A9 chip production enabled SEC to recover the foundry quantities from Apple, which have been discontinued for some time..."

Unfortunately, while production has started, mass production will likely not start until next year, according to Forbes.

In addition to the next generation chips, Apple is rumored to be releasing a new iPhone 6 model to go with its new Apple Watch. While this rumor has neither been confirmed nor denied, it is not expected that the new version of the iPhone 6 will be connected to the Apple Watch or contain the A9 chips.

On that note, Apple fanatics can only hope that the iPhone 7 will be released in the near future, with the A9 chips, and in turn, with superior battery life.
