iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Curved Screens or 3D Displays on the Way in September 2015?

Seven months after the release of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, rumors about the next iPhone are starting to pile up all over the Internet, and while nothing can be determined with a certainty, MacWorld points to the Apple trend of releasing their phones in September. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were unveiled back in September of 2014, before that, the iPhone 5c and 5s released in September 2013.

While many might expect the next Apple smartphone to be the iPhone 7, that can't be pegged as a sure thing. For now, everyone can just settle at calling it the new iPhone, as Apple has not really established consistent naming as its trademark.

MacWorld opines that Apple could be releasing two smartphones similar to what they did last year"”a 4.7-inch phone, and a bigger 5.5-inch version, much as was the case with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

When it comes to improvements from the current iPhone, Apple could go for a higher screen resolution"”a category that's seen the company play catch up in compared to its rivals.

MacWorld also doesn't think Apple will go the curved screen route, and is also skeptical of the 3D screen rumors that are circulating, but thinks a 3D display could be more realistic, citing Apple's supply chain partner TPK, who are working on a project that has a 3D display that doesn't require glasses to see. They do think there is a possibility of an end-to-end screen, and are open to the likelihood of wireless charging being introduced with the new iPhone.

The camera is another aspect that could see significant improvement, and MacWorld goes as far as saying this could be the biggest camera jump in the history of the iPhone.

September is still over four months away, and things should begin to shape more clearly once the projected release date looms closer.
