iPhone 6 vs. Xiaomi Mi 4 Comparison: New Device at Half Price of iPhone 5S

Apple seems to be facing more competition in the smart device market these days. Recently, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi organized an elaborate event in Beijing to introduce its flagship smartphone, Mi 4. Addressing the audience during the event, the company's CEO, Lei Jun, announced that they aimed to challenge the upcoming iPhone 6.

Jun did not hold back any ammunition against the Apple conglomerate, and directly attacked the iPhone in his promotional speech, he said, "Our product really is better than the iPhone. Our white version is also better than their white version. Even our white color is whiter!"

Talking about the features of Mi 4, the latest smartphone, from Xiaomi, comes with a 5-inch full-HD screen, a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and 16GB of 64GB of internal memory. In addition, the smartphone will run Xiaomi's custom-made operating system - a poor adaptation of Google's Android operating system. The software of the mobile allows additional customization and helps to do away with Android app drawer for putting all the progams on the home screen - very similar to what the iPhone offers.

From July 29 onwards, Xiaomi Mi 4 will go for 1999 yuan ($320) - just 50 percent of what the iPhone 5S costs. Incidentally, iPhone 5S is priced at $650. The company is optimistic that its new flagship smartphone will soon be popular in China. The company, however, did not mention anything as to when the smartphone will be available in the Western market, especially the United States.

Meanwhile, GSMarena reports that iPhone 6 and Xaomi Mi 4 both have 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks, which will offer faster data speed to users. Both smartphones are similar in size too. The iPhone 6 measures 5.12 x 2.56 x 0.28 inches and weighs 113 g, while the Mi 4 measures 5.48 x 2.70 x 0.35 inches and weighs 149 g. Both devices also have a built-in loudspeaker and a 3.5-mm jack.

As far as the internal memory is concerned, the upcoming iPhone 6 will be available in 16, 32, 64 or 128 GB, while the Mi 4 is available at 16 and 64 GB. The Mi 4 has greater CPU usage with its 3 GB RAM. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 has only 2 GB RAM. However, neither smartphone will support external SD card slots.

While the iPhone 6 has a built-in Li-Po ~1,850-mAh battery, the Mi 4 has a built-in Li-Ion 3,080-mAh battery and both batteries are non-removable.
