iPhone 6 Release Date Warnings: Beware of Fake iPhones, Things To Look Out For When Buying in September 2014
Since rumors have been buzzing about the release date of the iPhone 6 this year, dodgy and fake devices claiming to be the upcoming handset have emerged.
Based on some reports, the new iPhone flagship will have an iOS 8 system and will have a larger screen than that of the iPhone 5s. This is the basis for the fraudulent iPhones already on any unauthorized markets.
TechRadar recently released pictures of an allegedly fake iPhone 6 unit in it's retail box that has "iPhone 6" written on it.
However, there are easy ways to tell if the handset is a fake or not. Firstly, Apple hasn't even released the product, so it's difficult, if not impossible to obtain one. On a side note, rumors say the new handset is going to be available on the market by September 20.
Another thing to look out for is the box itself, as it says the device runs on iOS 7, but in all actually, the real iPhone 6 runs on iOS 8. Evidently, the box also has appears to be photoshopped, and poorly at that, in an attempt to change the iPhone 5 logo into an iPhone 6 one.
In a video posted by Nowhereelse.fr in Youtube, he showed an iPhone 6 dummy case. It is said that the case was made from production molds.
In another video from Feld and Volk, they also showed the case of the supposed iPhone 6. According to Expertreviews.co.uk, this could be a real Apple case, based on the Apple logo which was cut-out from the case, the case is original. It is rumored the video was created for NFC, but since it only showed the shell, it is still difficult to confirm if it is for the iPhone 6 or not.
As for the price, analyst Chris Caso told AllThingsD that the iPhone 6 will be $50 to $100 more than the iPhone 5s. However, since Apple is reported to release the flagship in two screen sizes, it is possible that the 4.7in model will cost just the same as the latest iPhone.
It's important to be on the lookout for fake iPhone 6's when the device hits the market sometime next month.
