iPhone 6 Release Date Rumors: All Signs Point to September 2014 Unveiling at Big Apple Event

Rumors have emerged that the highly anticipated iPhone 6 will be released sometime within the next month. If this turns out to be true, then Apple fans will see a new smartphone, a next-gen lineup of iPad tablets, and an iPod Touch 6, all within the upcoming Fall 2014 season.

The latest iPhone device is expected to have the Touch ID feature, which was originally introduced in iPhone 5s, and is also expected to be running on Apple's latest operating system, the yet-to-be-released iOS. The new iOS is presumed to be the same OS used in the new line of tablets, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

In addition to this, reports have been claiming that the new iPhone 6 will sport a much larger screen, which is seen as an Apple effort to compete with their rivals. Beyond that, rumors also mention that the display will be made from Sapphire Crystal, instead of the usual Corning Gorilla Glass, which will surely up the price, but also the device's ability to prevent cracks and scratches.

Also, the latest iPhone is speculated to have an A8 chip, which is said to be much more powerful than the previous A7 chip that is currently the standard in the iPhone 5 series.

The battery might also be receiving an upgrade, as the iPhone 6 will carry a 2,100 mAh battery which is roughly 45% stronger than the one found in an iPhone 5.

Again, Apple fans are banking on the idea that the iPhone 6 will be launched in September, as the Wall Street Journal reports that an estimated 70 to 80 million units will be sold upon release.
