iPhone 6 Release Date, Specs and Features News: Rumors Sparked By Leaked Photos Showing Similarities to iPad Air, iPod Touch (PICS)
With Samsung's Galaxy S5 released this week, Apple fans are eagerly anticipating the new iPhone 6 in the coming months, and many are desperate to find out what the device will look like and how innovative the next generation model will be compared to their biggest rival's flagship S5 device.
Raising the excitement levels, several unofficial sources have leaked photos recently, allegedly containing prototypes of the new phone, and some sources have tweeted information about the new specs and design.
Recently an anonymous Twitter user uploaded pictures of what was allegedly the iPhone 6 or an Apple phone that he claims to be one and the same as the next generation Apple smart phones. Later the images were made more credible by a leak from Sonny Dickson, an Australian writer, who has already been known to leak authentic information on Apple products.
The photos were uploaded to Twitter, with a side note explaining their specs and design. According to Dickson's Twitter account: "As some rumors suggest, the screen will in fact be bigger. The design will be like a cross between the current iPad Air and the iPod Touch. As shown in the pictures below, it will be definitely thinner than the current iPhone 5S. I'm not 100% sure this is the real back housing, but I'll be updating it as I get more information regarding it."
As usual with Apple rumors, there is no guarantee of authenticity as the company never releases official statements on rumors of future products, but at the very least Dickson has given likely data concerning the overall design and concept of the phone.
Going off of the leaked photos, designer Federico Ciccarese has made the claim that the iPhone will measure 4.7-inches diagonally and 2.3 inches wide. According to analysts from South Korean securities research firm KDB Daewoo, which has been known to have insider information on a variety of companies, there will be a simultaneous release with the iPhone 6 4.7-inch model of a "phablet," or a combination phone and tablet, which will boast a 5.5-inch screen.
