Rumors regarding Apple's upcoming smartphone, the iPhone 6, have been rampant since the dawn of the iPhone 5S last year, but recently they seem to have picked up some steam. Apparently, speculation is growing wild as only a few weeks remain until the highly anticipated device is released.

Latest reports claim that Apple will be launching two different sized iPhone 6 models. However, consumers may actually get more than one new smartphone and these models may be available on different dates. Rumors say that Apple may be coming out with a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 later this month, and follow it up by releasing a bigger 5.5-inch model in September. Most of these rumors stem from Taiwan's Economic Daily News.

There have been reports claiming that Apple may be naming the 5.5-inch iPhone, which has been extensively rumored since early 2014, as the 'iPhone Air'.

Meanwhile, some do not rule out the possibility of Apple will unveil both the iPhone models at the same event. However, the company is likely to make the smaller model available to consumers first, while the 5.5-inch model may go on sale somewhat later.

There has been a rumor circulating that suggests that the launch of the bigger iPhone model has been delayed owing to supply issues. In 2013, Apple launched the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C together on Sept. 20. However, while it was possible to order the iPhone 5C in advance, the stock of the iPhone 5S was limited for some time, especially for the gold model.

There are even rumors that say Apple may come out with an iPhone 6C to replace the iPhone 5C. However, it is more likely that the iPhone 4S will be replaced by the iPhone 5C as the low-cost iPhone option.

As of now, it is almost certain that Apple will be releasing its upcoming handsets sometime in September, exactly a year after the launch of iPhone 5C. A recent report from China suggests that the Cupertino-headquartered tech titan will announce its iPhone 6 on Sept. 15, 10 days before it becomes available to buy on Sept. 25.
