iPhone 6 Release Date Rumors: Will Be Available 10 Days After September 9, 2014 Launch
Rumor has it that the Apple iPhone 6 will be launched on September 9, and will be available for retail purchase 10 days after that.
Leaked photos of the iPhone 6 revealed that the device's back camera is protruding. Rumors suggest that the sensor on current iPhone models will be replaced by Sony's 13-megapixel Exmor IMX220 sensor.
Patently Apple got a hold of a new patent application suggesting that the iPhone 6 will have an improved fingerprint sensor. The new sensor will hasten fingerprint read times and lessen errors in recognition.
Reportedly, iPhone 6 will be available in two variants. First, Apple will release the smaller variant, one with a 4.7 display, on the aforementioned date. After that, a 5.5 inch display model, one that combats Samsung's Note 4 in the phablet market, will be released one month later.
To support the bigger iPhone, Apple has upgraded the battery power. The rumor mill suggested that the iPhone 6 has 2,100 mAh of battery, which is a 45 percent increase from the iPhone 5's 1,440 mAh. Also, the new smartphone will feature wireless charging.
Other reports claim that the iPhone 6 will have a 64-bit A8 processor and will run on iOS 8. It will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants and is said to have expandable storage capabilities.
Beyond that, Apple's upcoming wearable device, the Apple iWatch, is said to work together with the iPhone 6. Both the iPhone 6 and the iWatch will sport Sapphire glass as opposed to Gorilla glass.
Unlike with the iPhone 5 series, it is highly improbable that the iPhone 6 family will have colorful variants.
According to Wall Street Journal, Apple is targeting to sell 70-80 million units upon its launch, but amidst all the rumors, Apple has yet to confirm any official information regarding the launch of the iPhone 6.
