iPhone 6 Release Date, Specs: 5 Top Rumors About Apple’s Latest Smartphone
With the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone recently released by the South Korean tech giant, many smartphone fans are now excitedly looking towards the Apple iPhone 6 and wondering what specs and features will arrive with the next generation model in comparison to Samsung's flagship phone.
Below are some of the top rumors currently out there about the Apple Phone 6, although as usual Apple has remained completely silent on its future release, which is expected later in the summer. The iPhone 5S and 5C phones were released by Apple in September 2013, and a similar date in 2014 is currently expected by most analysts for the new iPhone 6.
1) Design: Larger Display
Many analysts on the smartphone realm have commented that, though the appearance of the iPhone 5 did not differ sharply from the iPhone 4s, there may be bigger changes in store for the next installment in the iPhone family. There may be a much bigger hand-set this time around, many analysts hint, and therefore a bigger display. Some even hint at a curved display, but the majority of Apple aficionados believe this is unlikely. A bezel-free display will be released by rival Samsung in their Galaxy S5 phone, experts say, so it will be interesting if iPhone developers are involved in this challenge.
2) Hardware: Storage/connectivity
There is no indication that the iPhone 6S will change its storage specifications in any great way from the iPhone. Most analysts agree that it will offer the same hardware features of the 5S, 4G/3G mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, lighting connector and three storage options: 16, 32, and 64GB.
3) Camera: Bigger Sensor/Image Stabilization
Rumors of a better iSight cam might be fulfilled. Many are hoping for a sensor of 13MP for the new iPhone. There could be an additional optical image stabilization and the wider f/2.0 aperture.
4) Processor: A8 or A7X?
An upgrade of the A7 processor chip for the iPhone 5 may be called either the A8 or A7X. But the real question will be if it will noticeably improve processing speeds.
5) Operating System: iOS 8
The operating system iOS 8 will be the next stage of the iOS system. Most notably it boasts an improved fingerprint security option that will have multiple uses in addition to just unlocking the phone.
All in all, there are some definite pros to the new design and specs of the iPhone 6, but will consumers feel that it's enough to make the upgrade?
