iPhone 6 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Comparison: Specs & Features Review
Apple recently revealed its first take on phablet devices, with its iPhone 6 Plus. With its latest features, reports say the device is good enough to take on the Galaxy Note series of Samsung, which is considered a leading brand on phablet devices.
With the latest addition to the Galaxy Note series scheduled to be released in October, the two phablets from two of the biggest tech companies may go head to head when it comes to sales.
For prospecting buyers, here is a comparison between the features of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's Galaxy Note 4.
Processor
Galaxy Note 4 packs a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 806 processor, while the iPhone 6 Plus runs a 1.4Ghz Apple A8 dual-core processor. The better processor can be determined once benchmark tests are done.
Display
In terms of display, Galaxy Note 4 offers a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen with a 1460 x 2560 pixel resolution, while iPhone 6 Plus features a slightly smaller 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD screen with a lower resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
The Galaxy Note 4 features a much sharper display than the iPhone 6 Plus, but the difference is not recognizable to a casual observer.
Dimensions
Galaxy Note 4, which measures 6 x 3.1 x 0.33 inches and weighs 176 g, is slightly heavier, shorter and thicker compared to iPhone 6 Plus, which measures 6.2 x 3.1 x 0.27 inches and weighs 172g.
Memory
Apple's iPhone 6 Plus will be available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, while Galaxy Note 4 is only available in 32GB. Samsung's phablet, however, has an expandable memory option of up to 128GB, which means that the storage space can total to 160 GB.
Camera
Galaxy Note 4 sports a 16-megapixel camera with OIS, autofocus and LED flash, while the iPhone 6 Plus features an 8-megapixel iSight camera also with OIS, dual-LED flash, autofocus and HDR.
Both phablets have a secondary camera, with iPhone Plus' sporting 1.2-megapixel camera and Galaxy Note 4 featuring a 3.7-megapixel camera and OIS.
Operating System
Galaxy Note 4 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, while iPhone 6 Plus runs on Apple's latest operating system, the iOS 8.
Battery
Both iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note 4 have huge batteries that are expected to provide additional power. Galaxy Note 4 has a 3,200 mAh battery, while iPhone 6 Plus has a 2,915 mAH battery.
Although the iPhone 6 Plus is new compared to the Galaxy Note series which has already established its reputation in the phablet market, the Apple popularity associated with iPhone 6 Plus is expected to make the competition tough for Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Apple announced that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus had a combined sales of more than 10 million units in the first three days of its release. While Samsung is also known to sell Android phones by the millions, it not expected that the Galaxy Note 4 would beat the sales of the new iPhones, since it took two months to sell 10 million Galaxy Note 3 units last year.
