iPhone 5S release date, news and rumors!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard a few rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 5S. Though most have yet to be confirmed, compared to Apple's previous iPhone releases there's a little bit of safe speculation to bet on.

RELEASE DATE:

This might actually be the trickiest rumor to confirm. If Apple sticks with it's usual way of naming new iPhone upgrades, the iPhone 5S will certainly be released before the iPhone 6. Many online trend theorists believe the iPhone 5S will be released in the September or October 2013 time frame. Apple will most likely wait until around the same time as IFA 2013, where Samsung is expected to unveil it's new Galaxy Note 3.

Back in May, Verizon started marketing a discounted iPhone 5, indicating production on the new iPhone 5S had most likely begun.

SPECS:

Specs are a little easier to predict for the new iPhone 5S. Most believe the next iPhone will sport a Retina + Sharp IGZO screen display, supporting 1080p resolution [Full HD]. The IGZO technology not only provides for better resolution but allows the iPhone 5S to be thinner and lighter.

As for design, the unconfirmed iPhone 5S case photos have been linked several times. The new case photos indicate a similar shell with minor changes to the buttons on the side for improved responsiveness. MacRumors also claims the iPhone 5S will be available in more than two color options.

The case photo leaks also indicate Apple is trying to be more efficient with space inside to house some of the upgraded specs for the iPhone 5S.

Of course the new iPhone 5S battery specs will be enhanced. But how much? A photo which claimed to be of the new iPhone 5S battery was leaked back in October. The photo revealed what appeared to be a 5.92Whr batter. The specs are a little better than the 5.45Whr battery in the iPhone 5.

FEATURES:

As with all new iPhone installments, the camera gets a bump. To stay relevant with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z, the new iPhone 5S will have to at least come equipped with a 13-megapixel camera. A larger flash both inside and outside of the iPhone 5S are also expected along with a whole new slew of camera features in the newly redesigned Apple iOS 7.
