iPhone 5S 'Gold' & iOS 7 Release Date Sept 2013, New Champagne Option & 'Budget' 5C Available [PICTURES]
Apple looks to finally share some answers and unveil the new iPhone 5S and iOS 7 on September 10th and it looks the feature iPhone 5S might even be getting a slight new cosmetic option. Even though the iPhone 5S is getting all of the hype, the new iOS 7 software, which was the first major change since the iPhone began, will really give us great insight on the user experience for the iPhone moving forward. iOS 7 has been in developers hads for a few months now and hopefully all of the kinks will be worked out when it goes public for all Apple users.
The iPhone 5S 'Gold' will reportedly have a golden rear and side frames, with the front remaining white. Basically just look a white iPhone 5 and all the parts that are silver now will basically be golden is what it appears.
Even though there have been rumors about this option for some time, AllthingsD who has a strong track record is now reporting on the 'gold' option which makes people believe it even more.
Since there is usually no distinguishing difference between a 3/3S, 4/4S, etc, this will mark the first visual change on a 'S' model if it comes to pass. This is a subtle and smart change to 'show off' the 5S more as now people will know for certain who is modeling the new 5S (except of course for the 90% of people who use case covers).
Still, it is a cool idea to have some sort of visual update. A gold look can still look upscale, like the addition of the silver on the iPhone 5 which most people have really enjoyed. However, they did try a color similar to this on the iPod and it did not sell well and eventually got pulled from the shelves.
While many might think gold can be tacky, there are two simple reasons they could have chosen it. First, gold tones some of the easiest colors to anodize, so it is an easy option. Also, golden toned objects are very popular in China and one of the most sought out color options in a market that Apple is really looking to penetrate with the new phone. But who knows for sure that Apple was exactly thinking with this color option if it comes to be. Maybe they will share their thoughts on why they picked their color options when they unveil.
The bigger question is how the bold colors of the new 'budget' iPhones will work as they color palette is very bright and vibrant, much like the iPod color choices. If the colors are accurate, it does remind of the blue tones on some of the early colored Mac desktops.
Apple has always stuck with just one model per year since introducing the iPhone but with competitors like Samsung introducing multiple models (Galaxy S4, S4 Mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom) and HTC introducing HTC One Mini it appears their strategy is about to change.
Apple is still alive and well in the U.S. but other countries are having trouble moving the high end iPhone with so many cheaper phone options now, so the 'budget' IPhone, iPhone 5C, could help solve some of those issues with people still being able to enjoy the iPhone experience.
