iPhone 5 vs HTC One: Compare Specs & Details to See Which is the Best Smartphone?
The iPhone has been king and other competitors are creeping up like the Galaxy S4 and the BlackBerry Z10.
All have good arguments, but for the sake of this article, we will just discuss the differences between the iPhone 5 and the HTC One. HTC One makes a strong case with a very high quality phone.
Design:
The iPhone 5 has a unibody aluminum shell compared to the HTC One that has a aluminum rear and front, but has a plastic side strip on it. The HTC One is a larger phone (137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3mm) compared to the iPhone (123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6mm) and weighs slighty more as well (HTC One = 143 g, iPhone = 112g). The feel is different as well with the iPhone having straight edges and the HTC One having curved edges. The feel part is totally up to whichever is more pleasing to you personally. The iPhone is so light it almost doesn't even feel right, but users seem to love it. The so if you want the smaller, lighter phone then iPhone 5 would be your pick.
Screen:
The HTC One has a much larger 4.7 inch screen compared to the iPhone 5 screen of 4 inches. So if screen size matters, then the HTC automatically wins this battle. Also the HTC One has higher pixel density at 469ppi compared to the iPhone 5's 326ppi. Both are great phones with great screens, but HTC One has a little bit more in every way.
Storage:
Both phones are pretty similar with storage. The iPhone offers a 16GB phone, where the HTC One starts at 32GB. Both phones have options of 32 and 64GB phones. Neither offer expandable features.
CPU and Power:
The iPhone 5 has a Dual-core 1.2GHz (Apple A6) with a 1GB RAM. The HTC One has a Quad-core 1.7GHz (Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Krait) and a 2GB RAM. So the HTC One beats out the iPhone in specs to make it a more powerful phone.
Software:
The HTC One has Android 4.2 with HTC Sense and iPhone 5 currently runs iOS 6 but iOS 7 will be coming to the phones this fall. The new iOS 7 some are saying looks more like an Android version, but has tons of great new features. We will have to wait and see how iOS 7 looks when people can actually use it on a daily basis. iOS always has the best software in my opinion.
Camera:
For some reason the HTC One only made their camera with a 4-megapixel camera, while the iPhone 5 has an 8-megapixel camera. the HTC One does have more features in their camera and is pushing the boundaries for camera technology, but the iPhone simply takes a better picture, especially in good lighting.
Apps:
This is where all of the arguments come to a quick hault. The Apple Apps and App Store is by far the most comprehensive store to exist, it absolutely blows Android apps and all other competitors out of the water. By shear numbers of apps and quality of apps, there is no comparison. So if you are used to using an iPhone with all of the apps, it would be very hard to switch to another phone and not be able to use those same apps. The competitors have a LONG way to go to get their app stores even in the same ball park as Apple.
Which phone do you think is better, the iPhone 5 or HTC One?
