iPad Mini 2 vs. iPad 5: We Know That They're Both Coming, but Apple Might Release Them Seperately

iPad Mini 2 vs. iPad 5

Well, it looks like the iPad family is going to be split up at this release. The upcoming iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 will most likely be released this year, either in late summer or fall. But, parent company Apple might choose to release them at separate dates. There are a few reasons why this might be the case.

Rumors say that the first of the two to release will be the iPad 5, shipping sometime in Q3 of this year, while the iPad Mini 2 will be just in time for holidays with a Q4 release later this year. These rumors come from "unnamed sources" from a Taiwan-based supply chain. They claimed that a 9.7-inch iPad 5 will be released in July & August. But, there's no way of knowing just how true (or untrue) that is.

But why would Apple distinctly move the release date of the iPad Mini later? Do they think that the iPad 5 will impact the sales of the iPad Mini 2, or the other way around? It doesn't seem too likely, but I could definitely see the advantages of releasing the less-expensive tablet of the two right before Christmas.

Regardless of why they did it, Apple definitely knows what they're doing. We should see another record-breaking release for the two products once they launch.
