iPad Air 2 Release Date, Specs, Rumors: Apple Tablet Features, October 2014 Launch
Apple's public launch of iPad Air last year was well received both by consumers and tech experts with its overall improved system performance as well as its thinner and sleeker design. Now, techies are trying to find out what changes they can expect in the iPad Air 2.
With the recent conclusion of the Apple Keynote Conference Launch on September 9, rumors about the upcoming iPad Air 2 suggest that Apple's new generation tablet mimics hardware requirements employed in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
According to Expert Reviews UK, iPad Air 2 will be running on Apple 64-bit A8 SoC which boasts 25 percent faster CPU and 50 percent better graphics. While the Cupertino giant gadget developer has used Sapphire glass on the Apple Watch, that's not the case for the iPhone 6 variants. This means that Apple may not implement the same type of screen in the iPad Air 2 either.
In terms of design, iPad Air 2 might not meet consumer expectation, as sources say the prototype for the device shows only minor tweaks. Nowhereelse.fr revealed that the iPad Air 2 will not be completely overhauled, as it will only be slightly different from its predecessor in terms of design.
It will deviate from the first gen iPad Air which is small, thin, and light with its 9.7 inch display. The leaked dimensions of iPad Air 2 is said to be closely similar to that of iPad Mini and iPad Mini 2 with Retina display.
DigitalTimes quoted insiders that iPad Air 2 will still be pegged with a 9.7 inches- 2048 x 1536 resolution display. ETNews, a Korean news agency, also predicted that Apple's upcoming phablet will feature an 8-megapixel iSight camera and a 1.5-megapixel front lens.
Like the new iPhone releases, it is powered by iOS 8 which introduces Apple Pay. Unfortunately, iPhone 6's NFC sensor is most likely missing in iPad 2. Following the lead that Apple will have three major releases this year, the iPad Air 2 is expected to hit the market in October 2014.
