Having introduced its latest software at the WWDC earlier this month, Apple is now gearing up to unveil its latest hardware. While the iPad Air 2 is expected to be released sometime within the next few months, the Cupertino, California tech titan is also likely to announce the release date of the iPad Mini 3.

It is expected that the iPad Air 2 will be released early October this year, together with the iPad Mini 3.

According to Internet rumors, the iPad Air 2's performance and graphics will usher in considerable upgrades and come with the A8 chip, which is meant to enhance the efficiency and life of the device's battery. In addition, the tablet will also support 4K ultra-high definition TV for external displays.

The iPad Air 2, which will be manufactured by Samsung, LG, and Sharp, will come with a 9.7-inch LCD display and have the same resolution (2048 x 1536) as the iPad Air.

Latest images of iPad Air 2 show that the new device does not look aestetically different from its predecessor, beyond some minor changes. There will a new button design and home button with Touch ID feature. In addition, the device will sport an upgraded front camera with 1.5MP resolution, and its rear camera will have an 8MP resolution.

Meanwhile, anticipating that Apple will be releasing the iPad Mini 3 soon, several retailers are offering huge discounts on the first generation iPad Mini. While Walmart is offering the existing device for just $249, slashing its price by $50, there are other retailers that are offering discounts up to $100.

It is being rumored that the third generation iPad Mini will be available with a TouchID fingerprint sensor, A8 processor, iOS 8 and will sport a waterproof feature.
