iPad 5 Release Date, Rumors, Specs / Apple to Use Sharp IGZO Technology for New iPad Display, Thinner More Batter Efficient [VIDEO]

It's a bird. It's a plane.

No. It's the IPAD 5!

What's Apple going to change and improve upon with their feature tablet series? Here's a rumor roundup of some of the possible upgrades.

According to online tech insider site DigiTimes, the Apple iPad 5 is scheduled for a fall 2013 release. Many sources claim production is rumored to begin in July sometime. But as with all things Apple and Internet for that matter, other sources claim an iPad 5 release date as early as April.

One of the biggest rumors is that the new iPad 5 will be thinner and lighter than previous models. But how much thinner and lighter? The new iPad 5 is rumored to be 15% thinner, 7.5-8.0mm, than last year's iPad 4. It's also predicted to be 25%, 500 grams, lighter than the iPad 4.

The new iPad 5 display is also getting an upgrade. Like the iPad 4, the new tablet will have a Retina display that boasts 2,048 x 1,536 resolution. The new iPad will reportedly have LED backlighting. To help reduce battery life and screen performance, Sharp is rumored to be making a iPad 5 display with IGZO technology; one of the reasons the new tablet can be thinner and lighter.

Some other rumored specs include: Apple A7 quad-core processor, 1-2GB RAM, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 5-8 megapixel back facing camera, and the new lightning connector.
