iPad 5 Release Date Rumors, Features and Specs [PHOTOS] / iPad 5 to Be Thinner, Lighter?

April has been a big month as far as iPad 5 speculation goes. According to multiple tech blogs the new iPad 5 will feature a 9.7-nch screen that is both thinner and lighter than the iPad 5 [approximately 4mm shorter and 17mm thinner].

British blogger Tactus reports the iPad 5 will use Sharp IGZO technology, Apple's alleged Retina display replacement.

According to Tactus, the IGZO technology will not only deliver a better picture, but also a significantly more battery-friendly picture improvement.

"IGZO displays use up to 90 percent less power than previous generation iPad displays, which means a smaller battery that reduces the overall weight and thickness. Everything's slimming even more with every leak and rumour, I even think with the use of the IGZO display, Apple will be able to use a much slimmer LED backlight. I'm inclined to think the iPad 5 will shape up to be just 7.2mm thick because of the above points!"

7.2mm thick! That's identical in narrowness to the original iPad mini.

As for release dates, online rumors can't seem to find a common ground. While many credible Apple insiders report the iPad 5 could be released as early as end of April, many believe the next generation will come out a closer to July through August. Many believe the iPad 5 will be launched simultaneously with the iPhone 5S, which reports indicate to be closer to September.

Do you think the iPad 5 will be released sooner or later? Are you planning on purchasing the new iPad 5?
