iOS 8 Download News: iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c Supported by New OS?
Even as Apple CEO, Tim Cook, unveiled the company's latest operating system iOS 8 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, many are left wondering as to which Apple devices it will support.
While iOS 8 will be launched this fall, it seems that the Cupertino-headquartered American tech behemoth will put an end to iOS 8 support for older devices, because Apple has listed the iPhone 4 as the first device that was supported by latest update of this operating system.
In addition, iOS 8 will also support a range of other Apple products, including the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, the iPod Touch 5th generation, the iPad 2, the iPad with Retina display, the iPad Air, the iPad mini, and the iPad mini with Retina display.
Delivering a statement on Apple's sales performance, Cook asserted that while 98 percent of Apple users are on iOS 7, only 9 percent of Android users are patronizing the latest KitKat OS release - the most updated version of Google's Android operating system.
Cook said, "Some are on (Android) from four years ago - that's like ancient history!"
Cook added, "Less than 1 out of 10 of their customers is on their latest versions," and went on to assert, "That means these customers are not getting great new features. They're not able to run the latest apps, and they're not getting security updates they need to stay safe."
The Apple CEO said that as many as 130 million Apple users who bought one of the firm's products, were first-time buyers of Apple products.
"Many of these customers were switchers from Android. They had bought an Android phone, by mistake, and then sought a better experience. And a better life. And decided to check out iPhone and iOS," he said.
