iOS 7 Pangu Jailbreak Fixes and Updates: Missing App and Plist Error Fix
Just a few weeks into its release and the Pangu iOS 7 jailbreak is already drawing complaints from those who have used it. Reddit users have posted that when installing the jailbreak, some of their apps have disappeared.
It is still uncertain whether the error is occurring because of an incompatible jailbreak tweak or something else entirely. However, some have pinpointed the problem to the improper loading of a certain system file: com.apple.mobile.installation.plist.
It is unclear why a plist file would be causing the problems, but the users have recommended some easy fixes. One such user, Kozerq, suggests installing MobileTerminal or an OpenSSH program to run the command "uicache." Kozerq says that the command should reload the plist file to fix the icons.
Another Reddit user, ReddestDream, adds in the thread that if the "uicache" doesn't work, the following files could be deleted:
/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServces-056.csstore, and
/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist.
There is a slight problem with deleting the two files as it messes with the icon layout, but that can be fixed by adjusting the settings in the Home Screen menu.
This is not the first time a jailbreak has caused turmoil among users. The jailbreak released by the evasi0n team at the end of 2013 also caused similar problems. The jailbreak was released, untethered, but packaged with an unofficial and unreleased version of Cydia as well as a Chinese cracked app store called "Taig."
The jailbreak back then caused serious issues in security and users were warned to install the jailbreak with the language set in English or not install the jailbreak at all.
