The 'Insurgent' movie release date has been set for March 2015, and fans of the Divergent series are already getting excited over the second film in the series.

'Divergent' gained $54 million in its opening week, and about $270 million worldwide, and gained widespread praise from fans of the novels.

The production team and cast are now working to try and replicate the box office success of the first film with the new 'Insurgent' film. Even though the sequel has yet to finish filming, rumors are also already emerging about the third addition to the series.

Shailene Woodley and Theo James are set to reprise their roles as Tris and Four, respectively, in the upcoming film, which will see them fight for their lives as the enemy looks to devise a simulation to control the divergent among them.

The movie is still being filmed in Atlanta, but already details about its planned release date have been leaked. Apparently, the new film will arrive in theaters on March 20, 2015.

After that, 'Allegiant' - the 3rd movie in the series - will be split into two parts, one arriving March 18, 2016, and the other March 24, 2017.

According to new cast rumors, a number of new stars are said to be joining the cast for the new movies.

Stars such as Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer will be joining the 'Insurgent' film as new director Robert Schwentke takes over production.
