‘Insidious: Chapter 3’ Premiere Date, Spoilers, Trailer: New Two-Minute Teaser Video Released
Focus Features recently posted the first two-minute video teaser for the upcoming horror film 'Insidious: Chapter 3' on Thursday via YouTube. While spoilers for the movie are only beginning to emerge, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the full length feature film on May 29, 2015.
The trailer shows Sue, played by Stefanie Scott, enjoying her school life, and even having a crush on the boy next door. Unexplained events suddenly happen in her home, leading her and her father, played by Dermot Mulroney, to believe that supernatural forces are at play. The pair then seeks help from psychic Elise Rainier, played by Lin Shaye, to save Sue and hopefully get rid of the dark spirits following her to ultimately save her life.
Despite being the third film in the series, 'Insidious: Chapter 3' will serve as a prequel to the first two films in the franchise. Elise, a character from the previous 'Insidious', films will be seen again, but only as a reluctant psychic, as she has not yet become the full-blown paranormal investigator she was in the first two films of the franchise.
Elise is joined by Spec and Tucker, played by Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson respectively, who will reprise their roles. They, along with Sue and her father, will help show the chain of events that eventually led to the horrors experienced by the Lambert family featured in the first two films.
The film will mark the directorial debut of Whannell, who wrote for the first three films of the 'Saw' franchise and the first two 'Insidious' films directed by James Wan. An insider also stated that expectations are high for the prequel film considering the success of the first two films.
The first 'Insidious' film grossed $97 million on a $1.5 million budget, while 'Insidious 2' raked in $161 million on a budget of $5 million. Whether or not 'Insidious: Chapter 3' will be able to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors remains to be seen.
