‘Insidious 3’ Release Date, Cast Rumors: Film to Release April 2015; Not About Lambert Family [VIDEO]
Given the huge popularity and success of Insidious and Insidious 2 (making $97 million, $161 million respectively), a third film in the franchise is expected to come out soon. But this time, it is not about the Lambert family anymore and Insidious 3 will revolve around a different plot. Leigh Whannell will be directing the third movie in the franchise which will start filming in July 2014.
Insidious 1 and 2 director James Wan will also be joining this year's production for the haunted thriller movie but this time as an executive producer. He is also assuming the directorial role for Fast & Furious 7.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Whannell leaked that the roles of Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne will not be renewed for the upcoming Insidious movie.
"[Producer] Jason Blum will probably kill me if I say anything. But I can say that it's not based around the Lambert family anymore, it's not Rose Byrne's character which I actually really liked, going back and just wiping the slate clean and starting over again. It felt like writing the first film, 'cause you weren't bound to any particular character. It felt really good," said Whannell, who also plays the role of Specs in the movie.
Whannell is co-starring with Lin Shaye (Elise Rainier) and Angus Sampson (Tucker).
Insidious 3 is a collaboration of Entertainment One, FilmDistrict, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, and the film is expected to premiere in cinemas on April 3, 2015.
