Immigration Reform News: US Senator Rubio Justifies Immigration Plans

Republican Senator Marco Rubio proceeded with his comprehensive immigration plans despite significant pressure from conservative voters to back down on his plan for multi-step immigration reform.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Rubio remained defiant and affirmed that he did not run for the senate to 'watch poll numbers'.

Rubio urged Washington to address, what he called the 'root cause' of US immigration issues, citing that the problem has now turned into a crisis, with tens of thousands of minors illegally crossing the US southern borders from Central America; most of them unattended by parents.

The Floridia senator slammed US President Barack Obama for passing US laws that he claims serve as a 'lure' for Central Americans to illegally cross US borders. Among these laws are a 2008 bill that provisions protection for children from non-bordering nations against human trafficking, and an executive memorandum coming from the US President that holds off deportation of minors unlawfully transported into the United States.

Rubio also cited that the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez, earlier pointed out that the rampant human trafficking in the region prevails due to the flaws and obscurities in the US immigration policies. According to Hernandez, human traffickers have long since taken advantage of these shortcomings in the US laws to entice families in Central America to have their children illegally cross America's borders.

The US Senator is not the first politician to publicly criticize President Obama about his Immigration Reform approach. Texas Governor Ricky Perry has earlier lambasted the US President for failing to personally attend to the Texan US border facilities which were crowded by a surge of illegal immigrants earlier this year.
