Immigration Reform News 2014: President Obama Blames Republicans for Immigration Failure

President Barrack Obama is planning to take administrative actions to address the problem associated with the US Immigration System. He also plans to allocate additional resources to protect the borders.

Last week the President spoke with Republican John Boehner, who is the speaker of the House of Representatives, during which the Republican from Ohio said that his chamber will not support the immigration reform this year, thereby eliminating the chances of a wide ranged bill being passed by the Senate to become a law.

According to Obama, he only takes executive action when there is a serious problem or a serious issue and Congress decides to do nothing about it. He goes on to mention that the failure of the House of Republicans to pass a bill is bad for the economy, security, and the future of the nation.

Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security and Eric Holder, the Attorney General was directed by the President to move the additional resources to US Border from the interiors. According to a White House official, administration is looking at ways to ensure that the deportation process is focused on a national security priority and more teams for investigation and enforcements are available to prosecute the people associated with smuggling people through the border.

The President by his recent actions has started a reform which will create a path to citizenship that would help more than 11 million immigrants without valid documentation residing in United States. The Senate Bill consisted of provisions for this as well, but due to the opposition, was not implemented.

Immigration activists on the other hand have pressed the President to make the administrative actions that are more aggressive in nature.
