Although Ian Somerhalder and the 'Twilight' star Nikki Reed started dating a few months back, the couple seems to be moving at great speed in their relationship, as there are rumors about their imminent engagement. People close to Ian have asserted that the couple is planning to tie the knot soon.

Even though sources claimed that this would not have an impact on the set of 'The Vampire Diaries', many feel that 35-year-old Ian, his former girlfriend Nina Dobrev and Nikki would be hanging out on the set pretending to be very good friends, in reality they might feel tension between one another.

According to a recent report, there is tension on the set of the popular television show since Ian and Nikki started dating, and the matter on escalated as Ian kept bringing his new girlfriend on the set. While things has not been smooth since he broke up with Nina, the matter got worse since he started seeing Nikki and one can just imaging how things will turn out when the couple announce their engagement.

Keeping in view the fact that this may possibly be the last season for most of the cast of the show (even Ian has hinted that this could be his final season), it is likely that Nina will have to endure the discomfort for a while.

On the other hand, if Ian decides to stay and signs for a few more seasons of 'The Vampire Diaries', which is possible as his career in movies did not take off as he expected, Nina may leave the show. It has been reported that she is determined to quit the show after Season 6.

Nina is sure that she wants nothing to do with Ian in terms of a relationship and does not wish to deal with him anymore in that regard, especially because he has been flaunting his new relationship in her face. Moreover, Nina wants to give her career as shot at the movies. Now that Ian has failed to make a mark in the movies, she is determined to make a successful career in the film industry.

Meanwhile, even as Nina seems to be enjoying her single status, Nikki is scared that the ex-lovers may unite again. She is apprehensive that Ian and Nina may patch things up, leaving her all alone.
