Hunger Games 3: Mockingjay Cast News, Rumors Update: Cast to Complete Production After Shocking Death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment early in 2014, shocking thousands and of course making a great impact on the cast and crew of The "Hunger Games: Mockingjay." In a recent report to USA Today, director Francis Lawrence revealed a little more about the crew's reaction and response to the tragic incident.
How did the crew cope with the master-actor's loss? And without Hoffman in the final months of filming, will producers be without the footage they need to recreate his character for the final two films?
Francis Lawrence opened up to USA Today saying: "It was obviously very rough for all of us. He was a friend. He was an amazing actor, an iconic actor. He was someone I really looked up to."
Hoffman is noted for his appearances in many ground-breaking and innovative films, as well as receiving an Oscar for his starring role in the sophisticated biopic drama "Capote." Fans and appreciators, including close friends and family members, were in abject shock at this unexpected and premature final twist on his otherwise hopeful and inspiring career.
Lawrence continued: "It's something so sudden, so shocking. We shut down for a day to give people time to deal with the sudden shock of it all. And to try and sort of figure things out a little bit."
Though the crew still reflects on the person they feel was both a magnanimous human being and a uniquely talented actor, the director asserts that his role in the movie will remain as an additional legacy to him, asserting that the film company had obtained sufficient footage for him to reprise his role from the previous film.
"There was very, very little that was left. Even if (Hoffman) had a number of days left, most of those moments were appearances in other scenes. Most of his dialogue was done."
You can catch the final role of Hoffman playing Plutarch Heavensbee, Head Gamemaker, in the conclusive last two entries of the Hunger Games films. "Mockingjay" will be hitting theatres starting this year, Part 1 on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 on November 20th 2015.
