Hunger Games 3: Mockingjay Part 1 Release Date, Cast Rumors: Poster Shows Julianne Moore as a Stern President Coin

Ahead of its release in November 2014, Lionsgate has released the official first look of the penultimate installment in "The Hunger Games" franchise and launched the official website for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," offering images of Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Woody Harrelson and the other cast of this star-studded series.

The film is set for release on Nov. 21 of this year.

Coming in the wake of "Catching Fire," "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," the final installment of the popular series, will be split into two movies, and leader of District 13, President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) has crucial roles in 'Part 1"² as well as 'Part 2.'

Talking about her character, Moore says, "You don't know who she is because she's only spoken about from Katniss' point of view (in the book), and Katniss immediately distrusts her in the way that sometimes a young person will distrust an older person who's not familiar to them."

As far as District 13 is concerned, once it was believed to have been obliterated by the Capitol in the Civil Wars, which resulted in "The Hunger Games," Moore articulates, it "really looks like a bomb shelter ... It's all been built hundreds of feet underground, so it can withstand any kind of attack and detection. Basically the Capitol believes they've destroyed this District and that everyone is dead, but these people have managed to kind of ekes out a living and take what little they have and bring it down there."

Aside from Moore's involvement, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman returns as Plutarch Heavensbee, who is believed to be a game maker, but eventually saves Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) from the Hunger Games arena and takes her away to District 13, setting up the concluding part of "Catching Fire."

As Hoffman died tragically owing to an overdose earlier this year just before completing his work on "Mockingjay," Lionsgate is planning to utilize CG recreation to complete the filming of his remaining scenes.
