Hulk Hogan Returns to WWE and will Host Wrestlemania XXX, “Words Cannot Express How Excited I am To Be Back In The WWE Family”
WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has come back to WWE and will host WrestleMania 30 on Sunday, April 6, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition, The Hulkster will make his much-awaited return to WWE on Raw. Furthermore, he will also make an appearance on WWE Raw Backstage Pass, airing live on WWE Network directly after Raw.
"We are thrilled that Hulk Hogan has returned home to WWE," said WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon in the press release. "It's fitting to have him help us celebrate 30 years of WrestleMania and usher in a new era with the launch of WWE Network."
The legendary wrestler was the undisputed star of the company in the 1980's and early 1990's before leaving to go to rival company WCW in 1994. Hogan's moment of sports-entertainment immortality occurred on Jan. 23, 1984, when he defeated WWE HOF The Iron Sheik at Madison Square Garden to become WWE Champion for the first time ever. That win inaugurated the pop-culture sensation known as "Hulkamania" with Hogan leading the WWE to international mainstream fame with appearances on MTV, his own animated series titled "Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection" and an iconic WrestleMania III main event against the late WWE HOF Andre the Giant in front of a record attendance of 93,173 fans at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan.
Hogan went on to become a six-time WWE Champion, and a WrestleMania legend; facing everyone from The Rock, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and 2014 WWE Hall of Fame inductee The Ultimate Warrior.
In 2005, Hogan took his rightful place in wrestling history when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his "Rocky III" co-star Sylvester Stallone. He has not appeared in a WWE arena since December 2007, but that will soon change on the next episode of Monday Night Raw, just one night after this Sunday's Elimination ppv event.
"Words cannot express how excited I am to be back in the WWE family," said Hogan in the press release. "I only have one question for the WWE Universe: Whatcha you gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild as the host of WrestleMania 30?"
