HTC One vs iPhone 5 & Samsung Galaxy Series, HTC Profit drops 83% From Last Year

HTC is struggling this year in the profit margins. The Taiwanese manufacturer announced that their second quarter this year for 2013 will be a 83% drop from their profits in second quarter of 2012.

The smartphone market is extremely competitive these days with the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy phones, BlackBerry's, etc.

The HTC One smartphone was built very well and got great critics reviews after using it, however that has not translated into prolonged high volume sales.

Samsung has taken the route of putting out multiple phones surrounding their big release Galaxy S4. Samsung also released the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom that is focused on a super high-powered camera and the Galaxy S4 Mini, which is a simplified version of the Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Note 2 comes with the stylus, which people love or hate, depending on preference. Also the Galaxy S4 Active with is supposed to be waterproof and made to be highly durable in all in all sorts of weather like dust and water, for users that would find that important.

HTC is looking into expanding to more phone options with a HTC One Mini and a HTC One Max.

Apple has to this point, just stuck with releasing one iPhone, however there is rumors that in the fall there will be an expanded series. Perhaps an iPhone Mini and a less-expensive iPhone with a plastic case and lowered specs for a lower price. Consumers are split on if they think Apple would break its focus to actually go through with this.

All of the smartphone companies are constantly looking to change their strategies to get a leg up on the competition. Some marketing strategies will work and some will fail, that is the risk of being in such a competitive business.

Would you choose the HTC One over the iPhone 5, Galaxy S4 or any other phone?
