HTC Desire Eye vs HTC One M8 Comparison: Review of Specs & Features

HTC has stirred the market and customers alike by launching Desire Eye, which may be competing against its own award winning One M8 model. Why would a company do that? Until the mystery of such a decision clears out, let's make a quick comparison between the two models.

While the two devices are very similar when it comes to specifications, it is the design where they greatly differ. The One M8, as we all know has a metal body with round sides and back, the Desire Eye has come up with colorful plastic body, but with traditional flat sides and back. The Desire Eye may feel like a solid device with a nice touch, but it is not as premium and smooth as One M8. Yet Desire eye's plastic body makes it lighter and slimmer and it is waterproof too.

Talking about display, Desire eye has a larger display with 5.2-inch screen, where One M8 has 5-inch display. Also a larger display helps Desire Eye to have a lower pixel density, 423 ppi in comparison to One M8's 440 ppi, but it is hard to see the difference with the human eye.

However, Desire Eye took a leap with HTC Re Camera equipped with UltraPixel and a 13 megapixel camera for both front facing and rear facing. It has a big advantage over the 5-megapixel front facing camera of HTC One M8.

Both devices come with a BSI sensor, 28mm lens and an f/2.0 aperture with Full HD video recording capabilities for rear-facing camera, while the front facing cameras also opt for a BSI sensor, HDR and 1080p video recording capabilities.

In terms of performance, there is not much to choose between the two when it comes to processor, RAM and storage. Also, both devices are equipped with 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.0.
