HP Spectre X360 Specs, Launch News: New Laptop/Tablet Hybrid to Compete with Lenovo’s Yoga Line & Dell’s XPS 13

Going against the tide, HP launched its latest convertible Ultrabook, the Spectre X350, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday. Having a start time of just four seconds, the Spectre X360 is probably the fasted booting Windows computer available.

KdramaStars reports that though the Spectre X360 has been designed for use as a laptop, it can be easily converted into a tablet - just flip the screen backwards.

The device certainly may not be the thinest and lightest hybrid, but it performs quiet well and comes with an array of features, says ComputerWorld. Meanwhile, ARSTechnica reports that the latest convertible Ultrabook Spectre X360 serves as HP's answer to both Lenovo's Yoga line and XPS 13 from Dell.

ComputerWorld says that HP will commence shipping this laptop-tablet hybrid worldwide in March itself starting at $899.

In fact, the fold-back design of laptop-tablet hybrid became popular among users since it does not compromise the indigenous clamshell laptop experience and is also said to be comparatively less complex mechanically. Moreover, such laptop-tablet hybrids cost less to manufacture compared to the very fidgety pull-apart or sliding-screen hybrids.

The hinge of Spectre X360 opens a full 360 degree till the back of the top is pressed against the device's base, facilitating presentation-friendly "tent" and "stand" modes to the laptop. Similar to Lenovo's Yoga, the keyboard of the device is on its back. Apart from this, it has the overall size and weight of a 13-inch notebook, says ARSTechnica.

The device comes with a 13.3-inch 1,920 x 1,080 touchscreen and is equipped with 2.2GHz Intel Core i5-5200U. In addition, it packs 8GB DDR3 SDRAM 1,600MHz coupled with 256GB SSD. The new Spectre X360 runs with Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
